You're protected if you have unauthorized purchases on your account. If you see and promptly report a transaction you didn't authorize on your Citibank® consumer debit card or consumer credit cards, you can be assured that you won't be liable for it.
As a Citi cardmember, you can be assured that we are constantly trying to improve ways to help safeguard and protect you and your account. Through monitoring of our customers' accounts, we can detect fraud or unauthorized use, often before you are even aware of it. If we notice suspicious activity on your card, we may contact you by phone, text, email* or mail to confirm you have authorized that purchase.
*Note that we will never ask you to provide confidential information through text or email.

Scammers are calling individuals posing as clinic or hospital officials claiming that a relative of the victim has fallen sick with the virus and request payments for medical treatment.
Citi has been made aware of various emails claiming to be from national or global health authorities, with the aim of tricking victims to provide personal credentials, payment details, or to open an attachment containing malware.
The US Government passed a stimulus package that includes payments to eligible individuals and we expect to see an increase in fraudulent attempts to obtain your personal and financial information. Unfortunately, scammers are aware that money and payments are very enticing bait in phishing emails, text-based attacks and social engineering.

You can get notifications for transaction details, including if the transaction is made outside of the US, if the card is not present for the purchase, or even if it exceeds the amount set by you. Sign up for Paperless to receive statements and other documents digitally only. Going paperless reduces the threat of mail fraud or identity theft. It is also convenient, and best of all, there is no fee to enroll. Enroll in Paperless here.
Generate a temporary credit card number that makes it virtually impossible for anyone to steal the real one while you're shopping online. By using Virtual Account Numbers, you get peace of mind knowing that your actual credit card number is never revealed to merchants. Plus, each number can only be used with a single merchant, so it will be void if someone tries to use it elsewhere. Any Citi® cardmember with an eligible card who has registered his or her account online at Citicards.com can use Virtual Account Numbers. Virtual Account Numbers are not available for all cards. To access your Virtual Account Number, sign in to your cards account.
With select Citi credit cards, you have free access to your FICOfico® Score. You should check it monthly to look for unexplained changes which may indicate that your personal information has been compromised. Checking your score in the Citi Mobile® App or on Citi® Online — no matter how often — has no impact on it. Learn more about FICOfico® Scores.
